Golu dolls 40 cm 45 cm 20 cm 5 pice size (also known as Bommai Golu in Tamil, Golu dolls in Telugu, and Bommala Koluvu in Andhra Pradesh) are an important part of the South Indian festival of Navaratri, especially in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The tradition is also observed in parts of Kerala.
Arrangement: Golu dolls are typically arranged on steps, with a wider base at the bottom and narrower steps at the top. The arrangement often increases in complexity as it goes up, with different themes represented at various levels.
Themes: Some families opt for thematic Golu displays, such as spiritual, mythological, or folk life.
Offerings: During the festival, offerings like fruits, sweets, and flowers are placed near the dolls. Special prayers are also conducted each evening to honor the deities.
